Bitcoin isn't exactly new, and anybody who thinks it's a good idea may want to research E-gold. Lots of folks lost real money to that fiasco.

there was another 1 that handled a lot of shadey transactions. The banks ended up cutting them off and freezing their funds. :/

Hell, I know somebody who was using Greendot, and his card got frozen because of "suspicous activity" and he lost quite a bit of money.
