Body Mass Index (BMI) Chart

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a formula for measuring body-weight adjusted for height. It is often used by physicians and researchers studying obesity. It is a metric foruma defined as:

BMI = weight-kilograms / (height-meters ^ 2)

For US measurements, the formula is:

BMI = weight-pounds / (height-inches ^ 2) * 703

bmi's are useless imo

Yes u beat me to the fact that a bmi chart says most bodybuilders are obese...

This is an out dated poorly planned method for doctors to easily call you a fat ass...

Its very good for the general population , thats about it. If you are any type of athlete you will most likely be obese. For the general visitor to the Dr. however it works really well and is generally spot on. Most GOOD Drs nowadays even know this.

Good Drs. Don't use the BMI chart!
Neither here nor there but considering most Dr's take maybe 3-6 credits of nutrition the whole time they are in college if you find one that knows much of anything about nutrition your doing pretty good.. Thats why for the longest time I have preferred to see an osteopath.

hell im my own zip code...

I guess I should tell you guys why I originally posted this, it was meant for HH to see....he shot his fat mouth off in my log and said he was 98lbs in his early twenties...only problem is there's no damn way a 6 foot or taller male could sustain 98lbs and not be hospitalized with feeding tubes....120-130 lbs for a 6foot person is severly under weight, 98 lbs is death bed BMI ......when I called him out and asked him to post pics and I would post some of me at 126lbs he gave some b.s. rant and never answered challenge ..I figured he may learn something from this chart and pick a better random weight next time he tried to shoot his mouth off...
This chart is useless for a person who works out , and not the most accurate if ur looking at the heavier weights for height, but it is pretty spot on when u look at the under weight side of the chart in ratio to height...when I was 126lb I was on the very low side of normal, which I think is a fair estimate, I would have been severly under weight at 109 and I'm 5'9

I saw that whole episode and choose to watch it play out. You'll find that in every lie is a kernal of truth. While the weight and height don't pan out, I do believe there was a particular time when he did weigh 98lbs and it was a problem for him. Could've been at an earlier age, probably in high school or something like that. Memories are a funny thing, like how you can remember them the way you want to remember them and not necessarily the way they actually happened.

I have a battle buddy of mine who is always under weight he weighs 130+- he is 6'1 but he also has very small bones like his ankles are the size of my wrists he has like no shit a 27-28in waist dude try's all the time to put on weight and he was up to 160lbs one time and as soon as he went back to eating like he always had the weight was gone in about a month maybe 2.. But this dude can run a 2mile in under 10 min... he could have weighed 98lbs I think he would have been sick personally.. But the human body has no average each and every person is so much different..
