By Tristen Critchfield Mar 24, 2017
Former strawweight champion Carla Esparza will face Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night 112 in Oklahoma City.
Multiple outlets confirmed the pairing following an initial report from ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. UFC Fight Night 112 takes place at Chesapeake Energy Arena on June 25 and will include a featherweight scrap between B.J. Penn and Dennis Siver. The card will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
Esparza has split a pair of bouts since losing the 115-pound title to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 185. “Cookie Monster” outpointed Juliana Lima at UFC 197 before dropping a split verdict against Randa Markos in her most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 105. The 29-year-old Team Oyama representative is 11-4 over the course of a pro career that also included stints with Invicta FC and Bellator MMA.
Moroz has won three of her first four UFC bouts, including a split decision victory against Danielle Taylor in her most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 92 this past August. The 25-year-old Ukraine native made a splash in her Octagon debut, submitting Joanne Calderwood with a first-round armbar at UFC Fight Night 64. Moroz owns an 8-1 career mark.
