Former Springfield police officer indicted on drug charges
This story has been updated because an earlier version included an inaccuracy.)
A former Springfield police officer was indicted on drug charges.
Clayton Hadley was indicted for possession of larger than legal amounts of marijuana as well as possession of testosterone.
Deputies searched Hadley's home on July 31 and found more than three pounds of marijuana along with multiple vials of suspected testosterone. Deputies also found roughly $5,000 in cash at Hadley's home.
Hadley was not arrested that day, but he was indicted last week by a grand jury.
Deputies searched Hadley's home after police were called to the home for a domestic dispute. Officers with the Springfield Police Department initially responded but later called in the Sangamon County Sheriff's office after they learned Hadley lived in the home.
Springfield Police Department Deputy Chief Sara Pickford told the State Journal-Register Hadley was taken to the hospital the night of the domestic for unknown reasons.
Pickford said the police department placed Hadley on administrative on July 23 after testing positive for marijuana and resigned on Aug. 2. Pickford said the department tried to dismiss Hadley but was delayed due to his hospitalization.
Hadley is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 10.
