So I have a hernia on the top of my umbilical area, its not painful but is irritating enough to bother me. Not interested in getting surgery at this point and was wondering if any of you have experience with hernia belts or if a typical weight training belt would help. I usually do not were a belt when I train unless I am trying super heavy rack pulls.

IMO if your going heavy....a belt would be an absolute must. You don't want it to get any worse.

Yes that's it, been there about a year doc said they could surgery but couldn't lift for awhile. I really feel when doing legs and back or abb's so think I will follow 01draginslayers advise and just start wearing a belt for my workouts.

They make belts just for this but they don't look any more effective than a normal weight belt.

Awesome yeah I'll start using the belt too thanks for the info I thought that's what it was. I'll confirm with my trt doctor next time I go in.

So next Friday getting this fixed, they are telling me I will just be down for 3 wks. Any of you have experience with this?

I had an umbilical hernia also in my belly button they took my gall bladder same time. That 3 weeks sounds about right.

Had a double fixed with mesh, I was already out with a pec tear, but about 3-4 seems right on healing.

I had the same surgery about 12 years ago. Down for about 3 weeks. Eased back into working for 3/4 weeks then full speed.

Worst part is first week. You like you’re folded in half. And wear sweatpants to the hospital. Then inflated my stomach with air to have room to maneuver.

Definitely get it taken care of. They can sometimes get wrapped around your intestines and then you get necrotic.
