Hey guys I am waiting on a job offer from a competitor of mine. I live in Louisiana now but they would want me to move to Houston to take on this new job. I'm currently a manager over seeing 2 stores now and this would be the same job but on a much larger scale. So I'll be going from roughly 300k a month operation to 1.2-1.5mil a month operation.

My question is if anyone has lived there, how are the school systems (I have 3 kids)? I may be interested in Pearland or Katy area. I know they don't have state income tax but property tax is outrageous (so I've heard). Now I'm paying about 3100$ a year on my 3 houses i own.. how does it compare to Texas? Just really anxious to see what they offer me money wise.. but I want some one to tell me honestly pros and cons of the area. That way I can compare them to where I am living now and make the best decision for my kids and wife. Money isn't everything but it is a game changer!

Traffic sucks ass... the worst. Great food, concerts, sporting events, etc. I'd try to find something very close proximity to work... again, the traffic sucks ass. Commuting is almost an impossibility, I've sat in traffic for 3 hours driving to work... which was less than 20 miles away. Check it out though, cool place to live while you are young.

Katy has some of the best schools in Texas. Highly recommend if you have kids. Traffic will be bad if commuting to Houston but it's a nice area and even has a water park to take your kids to called typhoon texas.

On a 350k home you can pay around 8 to 10k on taxes of course you can roll that into your mortgage. I pay about 12k on my home and on my rental 5k .

Dam that's freaking ridiculously expensive. Kinda turning me off haha. I guess it isn't SO bad being I wouldn't have state income tax but it's still high. But I'm not going unless they offer me 130k minimum a year. Will see. If I get a good offer I will be contacting you for more information if you're available.
