Ok, there seems to be a wide range of opinions on this, thought I'd get some input from members.

I've heard everything from 1 gram per pound of "lean mass" to 2 grams per pound of overall weight.

Voice up..what is your secret formula on the protein macro?

I use the 40% (for the most part) of daily calories needed rule! 40% of my needed calories comes from protein.

more the better...

i know my body enough to know if heavy on carbs or fat i end up with fat...

In all honesty, were all really over doing our protein in take and takes a pretty strong toll on our liver. I recall one of my processors told me when I was weighing around 190 that I only should be taking in around 80-90 grams a day tops. I forget the equation of how to do it but I posted it up on bop, and of course everyone gave me shit.

I will agree with you on the potency of Protein on the kidney's and liver. Gram for gram Protein is the most hazardous compound we take....more so than even Halo or Anadrol!

That's what spurred in this post. I keep hearing how damaging protein is to the liver when in excess, problem is, who knows what excess is?

Is protein anabolic? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I was told it is, but don't have anything but bro-science to go by.

Calculate protein needs based on your weight.
If you're not counting your daily calories, then you can figure out your daily protein needs by using a simple formula based on your weight. Take your weight in lbs. then divide it by 2.2 to get your weight in kilograms. Multiply your weight in kilograms by 0.8 if you are sedentary, up to 1.8 if you exercise regularly, to get your daily protein needs.

As with EVERYTHING in bodybuilding, it all depends on the person.... give 10 different men the same workout/sleep/gear schedule and diet plan, and get ten different outcomes... I cant grow on really low protein though like goodfella stated

1 gram per lb is a good rule of thumb and its what I try to fallow seems to do me good.

Don't listen to him......He gets blown back a foot or two when he turns his blow dryer on!

I'm at 340g per day at 246 currently. I just wondered how others were doing it. I'm in the hands of a trusted prep coach 🙂

So you're at 1.5x bodyweight almost. Even using my 40% calorie rule, I'm at 1.5 as well.

1gm per lb of bodyweight works for me, Its easy to remember and if I have more then I don't worry but try to take in minimum of 1gm per lb.

It really depends on your diet honestly. I go by percentages, If my diet calls for more of one thing than another and the calories differ from time to time, my protein intake can be substantially more or substantially less, as with all other macro nutrients.
