If you're like me, you were pretty chill when you were younger. You didn't party much, you stayed to yourself, and you pretty much had no idea what you wanted to do.
Now that your 30s are here, the stress and anxiety of life are starting to zap the energy from us.
A new poll reveals that men in this age group are most likely to struggle with keeping it up. If you didn't get much action in your younger years - you could be in for a surprise.
So why can't they get it up? 49% of the men blame stress, while 24% blame drinking too much. On top of that, almost 30% have broken up with their partners as a result.
In fact, 43% of men aged 18-60 across the UK are suffering from impotence; four in ten men blame stress, 36% blame tiredness, 29% blame anxiety, and 26% say they drink too much.
This poll came from some researchers from the Coop Pharmacy. They found that the largest affected age group of men with erectile dysfunction are those in their thirties - 50% reporting difficulties getting or maintaining an erection.
If that doesn't sting, 42% of those in their 40s, 41% in their 50s, and 35% under 30s cannot get it up.
So what gives?
Famous TV Doctor Hilary Jones has been quoted saying "Erectile dysfunction is a taboo in our society, and that needs to be broken."
She goes on to say “In an age when many people are happy to share intimate details of their lives on social media, it is a huge cause for concern that men today do not feel confident enough to discuss openly their struggles with impotence.”
Of the men surveyed, one-third of men aged 18-60 surveyed say they haven't told anyone about their erectile dysfunction. Only 28% have done to their doctor, and only 9% have discussed it with another man in the family.
What's even more worrying is that 43% of those affected by impotence could not discuss this issue with a friend. 23% said they wouldn't feel comfortable talking about it with their own doctor.
We have a legitimate problem here, why can't men talk to even their significant others? Hell, 27% of men said they would rather break up with their partner rather than talk to their doctor about their inability to get it up.
Adrian Wilkinson is the spokeswoman for Coop Pharmacy. She said “The results of the survey clearly show that erectile dysfunction is something that’s having a huge impact on almost half of the male population in the UK.
“It’s with this in mind that we want to de-stigmatize any negative misconceptions and start talking about impotence and normalizing it, to help men feel good, know they’re not alone and know they’re not being judged.”
