First off, a big thank you to DYEL for doing this interview. It’s not often that we get a little peak into the lives of members let alone vendors. This member/vendor has been active here for some time now and has been a great addition to EG. It’s no secret this is one of my favorite UGL’s and this vendor like many here have been doing this right for some time. It’s my great pleasure to share my interview with DYEL.
LT: Did this career choice stem from a love of bodybuilding or was it for some extra cash, free gear or a little bit of all of it?
DYEL: I was always into sports and got into lifting to improve strength for sports. I was never much of a bodybuilder. It was a mixture of extra cash, free gear, and already liking sports that got me started in this business.
LT: Now most people growing up do not look at their mom or dad and say I want to run a UGL when I grow up. Did you start out like most as a homebrewer or did you jump strait into the business?
DYEL: Started as a homebrewer and slowly ended up being a source.
LT: How did you find your way to EG?
DYEL: Someone told me about the website and I joined.
LT: Most of know about the compounds we are using and what to expect from them yet know little to anything about the brewing process. Was this a big learning curve for you and how long did it take before you really felt comfortable in the lab.
DYEL: I didn’t have any problem learning to brew. It’s pretty easy IMO. The hard part is finding a source with good raws.
LT: Tell us a little bit about your first few attempts at brewing. What was the compound and how did it go.
DYEL: First time brewing I made test and Eq. My first attempts were a success. It is simply a matter of following the recipe and everything should work out. The blends and things that don’t have a recipe are the harder oils to brew. Those require some chemistry background.
LT: What are some of the most difficult compounds to brew?
DYEL: High dosed blends.
LT: You are a fairly popular UGL and by no means would I could you a small operation. Give us an idea of what it was like just starting out and growing into the lab you are now. Was there ever a point where you thought things are moving too fast or that you were getting to big?
DYEL: I’m a perfectionist, so never had any issues to be honest.
LT: I think we can imagine some of the risks you take every day to do what you do. Is there a constant stress of looking over your shoulder or is it something you get used to?
DYEL: Erm it’s something you get used to. I don’t really worry about it much.
LT: What are some of the biggest day to day challenges you face as a UGL?
DYEL: I would say dealing with some of the ridiculous complaints I get.
LT: A lot of times I feel there is a bit of a disconnect between vendors and members in terms of the relationships on the forums. Some labs are very open and some you never talk to the owner. You seem to be the type that enjoys the one on one interactions. Has that always been the case?
DYEL: Yeah I have always preferred one on one.
LT: I can only imagine some of the questions you must get from customers. What are some of the more bizarre things people have asked when placing an order?
DYEL: I had someone complain that I had sent their cash back (I had not). It took a few weeks for the guy to say oh shit I got the vials actually.
LT: This question comes from T-bar. It's probably safe to say that a majority of people who sell steroids on a large scale end up doing time because of a pissed off customer or a motivated politician looking to make headlines. How often do you think about this and how much does it worry you? Do you believe you can walk away before this happens? In your head, how do you see this line of work playing out for yourself?
DYEL: I don’t think those factors play a role IMO. Stupidity causes labs to go to jail, I’ll be fine.
LT: Favorite thing to do to unwind from the stress of day to day life.
DYEL: I’m into a bunch of sports. So pretty much any physical activity works for me.
LT: How big of a role does lifting play in your life? I have found that some UGL owners are big into it and some could really care less. Where do you fit in?
DYEL: I usually lift 3-4x a week. Not the most dedicated person but I do make sure to go every week.
LT: It can be hard to imagine what a lot of us do away from the boards and this lifestyle. Does family play a big role in your life and if so, do any of them know what you do?
DYEL: Family plays a big role in my life, currently have two kids I take care of each day. They do not know anything.
LT: One thing about yourself that might surprise the members here.
DYEL: I like to do long hikes , talking about 2-5 day long hikes and camping.
LT: When you accepted my request to do this interview you asked if we could include some political discussion. Has this always been a passion of yours or is this something that has recently caught your attention?
DYEL: I’ve always had an interest in it.
LT: This is a very strange year for politics and the choice in candidates overall. I know you would prefer a third party. Tell us who your choice would be and why.
DYEL: I would prefer Jill stein because she cares for the environment more, but I wouldn’t mind if Gary Johnson won either. Trump and Hillary are both trash IMO. I’m not going to bother explaining why. If you don’t know why then shit you are the problem. Here is a study to support my argument.
Kruger & Dunning (1999) – those who score lowest on grammar, humor, and logic are most likely to overestimate their “gifts”
To recognize incompetence one has to be competent.
LT: Now I know politics can stir up some pretty strong emotions but I have never seen anyone offer a discount on products if they show proof of a donation to party. Tell us your stance on the current issues and why this is such an important topic for you?
DYEL: I don’t want trump or Hillary to win. I’m not a democrat or republican. Both are parties are trash and forever will be. Trump is a bigot and Hillary is corrupt as they get. Barack Obama is also trash IMO. Not for his skin color but the fact we have a giant pipeline running through the states because of that asshole and gave Bush + Cheney immunity for their “legal” murders.
LT: Are you involved in politics in any kind of grassroots movement? I have a hard time seeing you going door to door…
DYEL: Negative these are just my thoughts.
LT: I recently saw a poll that 1/3 of Americans would support a third party candidate. Do you think that is a reflection of the two candidates or the state of the government of as a whole?
DYEL: Probably a reflection of the two candidates. However, this has been a problem for years. The elite upper class give everyone else the illusion of free will. The elite pick their candidates and the lower class are given the illusion of free will by voting for one of the two candidates. If we really had free-will why can’t a third party win the election?
LT: If you could relay one message to the people reading this in terms of your political views what would it be?
DYEL: Don’t be a bigot and don’t blindly follow Hillary lies.
LT: How long do you see yourself doing this for and after its time to close the doors what kind of a role do you see this community having in your life?
DYEL: A few more years until things get better for my family. Once I leave I’ll probably stay around and post every so often.
LT: Thanks so much for taking the time to do this interview with us and share a little bit about yourself. Its always interesting hearing from someone in your position and your views on different topics. I would ask members to please leave any political rebuttal out of this interview section please as DYEL was kind enough to take the time to do this for us. Thanks to EG and all of you who read these and its really my pleasure to be able to bring these to you all. Until the next one,
LT
