Jon Jones Issues Statement On UFC Comeback: ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’

With news arriving earlier this morning that former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones had been reinstated by the UFC after he was stripped of the title and suspended indefinitely for a felony arrest on hit-and-run charges earlier this year in New Mexico, the stage is now set for “Bones” to take on heated rival and current UFC 205-pound champion Daniel Cormier in a blockbuster event presumably sometime next year.
Jones famously took Cormier to the limit following a heated, long-winded war of words at January’s UFC 182, a bout that was only heightened by their infamous UFC 178 Media Day brawl to promote their originally scheduled match-up at September 2014’s UFC 178. The former champ has since taken to Twitter to subtly call out Cormier, to which the champ responded with a message telling “Bones” to “grow up”.
Today, however, it appears that Jones is behaving more like the supposedly “Fake” self that Cormier insists he puts forth for the cameras, taking to his Facebook account to release a carefully worded statement expressing his gratitude at being able to return to the sport he so values. Check it out here:
“I am grateful for the opportunity to resume my career and I am excited to show how much I’ve grown as a person outside of the octagon. It took me losing almost everything I had worked for to realize how much I had. I am blessed and humbled by the continued support of the MMA community and I can’t thank my fans enough for their unwavering support through my ups and downs. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life and my career and let me assure you, the best is yet to come.”
