Kurt Russell Blasts Gun Control Push: “I think it’s absolutely insane”

Ed Morrissey | HotAir.com - December 14, 2015

“If you think gun control is going to change the terrorists’ point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind"

When reporters want to discuss firearm policies with Kurt Russell, they’d better bring a better game than the hapless Jeffrey Wells managed. While promoting the new Quentin Tarantino film Hateful 8, Russell got into an extended exchange with Wells, in which the latter derided gun rights as “a totem… for disenfranchised white guys,” and urged Russell to consider the possibility that people on the no-fly list could buy firearms. Russell rips the reporter for believing that people who want to kill others will refrain from doing so because Congress passed a law against it (via The Blaze):

Way to go Kurt! Hmmmmm.......wonder why that interview never ended up anywhere else in the mainstream? Could it be because it doesn't fit the leftist liberal agenda?

Because if they outlaw guns, if someone breaks into your home with a gun that they got on the black market they want us to use a sword to defend ourselves. Lol. Or better yet rely on the GOVERNMENT to protect us lmao. Or even better yet, we can slap the shit out of the intruder with that government tit that we suckle off of for welfare etc lol. Sorry had to say it.

Fuck that. I'll blast him with either one of my home made ar-15 I machined out and put together (bought 80% lower and machined the rest at a buddies machine shop.. requires no license to complete a gun yourself), pistol, shotgun, rifle, whatever it takes. I'll take that lick and do jail time if that is the case but I promise you I'll die protecting my family from an intruder. . Whether it be a robber or govt. It's my right to own a gun according to the Constitution and I won't be the only one standing my ground. They'll never win with the gun ban law without a civil war. Its just not going to happen easily.

I agree bro, I was just being a smartass. I'm a hard working law bidding citizen. If someone is coming in my house prepare to meet a quick end. We have rights, we'll defend them no doubt.

The problem with Hollywood is it's full of brainless ignorant liberals. These idiots follow And believe the liberal senators trying to write gun laws when they have no knowledge of guns to begin with!

You guys seen that retard Kevin de Leon telling everyone in a press conference when you push a bullet button (drops your magazine when pushed) that pushing it turns your rifle into full auto!? I want to punch my tv every time I hear these idiots spewing their liberal lies.....

I have a couple custom built ARs too if anyone wants to try. My biggest fear is somebody breaking into my house.......and me not being able to decide which one of my guns to kill them with. Hahahahha

I just wish more of the Hollywood stars would speak up like Kurt did, and not cower down to the liberal media! Ignorance breeds fear!

Kurt Russell: I’m a ‘Hardcore Libertarian’
Mikael Thalen | Infowars.com - December 23, 2015

"I found [the Founding Fathers] and I found libertarianism. They were pretty radical guys, and damn smart..."

Hollywood actor Kurt Russell described himself as a “hardcore libertarian” during an interview this week while promoting his upcoming role in Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight.”

Speaking with journalist Marlow Stern, Russell began by breaking down his recent comments on gun control that received widespread media coverage following the San Bernardino terror attack.

“[The interviewer] got into the whole thing about how gun control was somehow going to fix terrorism, and I was like, ‘Dude, I just don’t get that thinking!'” the actor said. “I just didn’t get where he was going saying that gun control was a magic wand of fixing the situation with terrorism. That isn’t going to stop them from what they want to do.”

Delving into his experience as a staunch libertarian actor in liberal Hollywood, Russell explained how unlike many others, his political views have drawn heavily from America’s Founding Fathers.

“I’m not a Bill Maher libertarian. That’s faux-libertarianism… The other thing I’ve found is that a lot of liberals in Hollywood are faux-liberals, and a lot of Republicans in Hollywood are faux-conservatives,” Russell said. “When I was a young guy, I was finding myself not quite being able to see the things that were going on and buy into a political culture. I didn’t know what to do, so I finally said, ‘Why don’t I go back and see what the Founding Fathers were all about, and see how that stacked up.'”

“Well, I found them and I found libertarianism,” he added. “They were pretty radical guys, and damn smart, and I just believe in that old-time stuff and think they had great ideas.”

Russell says his political stance was finally “cemented” several years later after attending an event for the 20th anniversary of the Cato Institute, a leading American libertarian think tank.

“Years later, I had the wonderful opportunity to go to the Cato Institute’s 20th anniversary and spend some real time with some amazing people,” the actor revealed. “I met some great people there, and that cemented it for me. I felt, guess what, there is a place where I can have a conversation and not be laughed at or smirked at.”

Despite constant attempts by media outlets to interview the actor specifically on his political beliefs, Russell has thus far refused to do so.

“They’re trying to constantly get me to go on these shows and whatnot, and you only end up promoting their shows. And I don’t want to go on those shows and have someone think, ‘The last thing I want to do is watch Kurt Russell talk about shit that I don’t think he knows anything about,'” he said.

In closing on the topic, Russell reiterated his belief in pure Americana, not the current political system.

“I believe in limited Constitutional government, free market capitalism, reach for the brass ring,” he added. “There’s this place where you can go do that and don’t step on anybody’s toes and still try to reach for the brass ring.”

I can't help but read hear his voice when I read his comments. It's way cooler that way.

Honestly I'm not too worried about the kind of people that have guns and break into homes. I still give myself an 80/20 chance of killing them even if I don't have a weapon. I don't on the other hand trust a government full of liberals to be the only ones with guns. I also will never put myself in a position where there are streets filled with thugs illegally owning guns when I don't. That's never going to happen.
