Would like to hear what you guys do on your average leg day workout?
I always walk into the gym and start off with leg extensions than hit the leg press hard. Issue is I feel squats are a beyoitch after leg presses. Does everyone do squats?

squats are a great exercise ...but not essential to build good legs... essential to be a good squatter for sure.

i hardly ever do squats anymore... i'm getting older and have to train smarter

so leg day is usually machine squats .. trap bar deadlifts, and sprinting

I don't do heavy squats anymore mainly stick to around 225 and rep it out.. but I am same boat as krustus.. stick with machines and rep till failure keep it on the moderation of weight .. and throw in some deadlifts.. lately been trying to focus on my VMO..

Why are you doing heavy leg press before you do squats? Why not warm up with light extensions and curls, followed by a solid squat workout, then heavy leg press, then straight leg deads, then pump those legs full back at the extension/curl machine?

typical leg day
leg extensions - 20 reps
abductors - 20 reps
inductors- 20 reps
calf raises - 30 reps

done in a rotation, four rotations

move to leg press, 40 reps, 30 reps, 20 reps 10
increasing weight
rotated with laying hamstring curls 15 to 20 reps
standing hamstring curls 12 - 15 reps
then burn out with deep knee bends
repeat 4 times

if i'm not burned out I do straight leg dead lifts ,walking lunges or sumo squats

T-Bar I usually do squats after warming up on the leg extension machine. Im thinking I'll nvr do leg presses than squats again. Just squats THAN leg presses. I like to change my workout routines around but legs might not be as flexible as other parts when deciding on exercises.

Mrs. Lith is a leg day freak so I accompany her. I don't pursue it as much as her though. MY typical routine is a good stretch and some work with the bare bar to loosen up. Ill use 135 as a warm up set and go as deep as I can go to loosen up.

I then bump to 225 for a set of 15

then two working sets of 315 for 10-12 reps. My days of heavy squatting are done due to knee surgery and SI joint/sciatica issues. Thats as far as I go but yes I still squat.

Mrs. Lith on the other hand does about 6 sets of 20 reps with 135. She is usually dead after that.

We move on to leg presses, exts, hamstring curls, and calves. She may add lunges and deadlifts bt Im done prior.

i mix things up: back squats, leg press, leg curls, goblet squats, and lunges (hate these but they are a great exercise)....i don't do front squats because it feels too awkward to me and hurts my shoulders.

the other day i tried goblet squats off of two platforms in the squat rack. that was pretty cool, definitely gonna do that more. leg press is still my favorite...i can get up to 1200 on a good day. i don't squat too heavy. can do 315 for maybe 5 reps, usually don't go any higher than that and a lot of times just do high reps at 135. or moderate reps at 225.

i've really been trying to focus on training the legs hard, and with more frequency. my split is now LPLP. Legs, push, legs, pull. so i'm training legs with twice the frequency of my upper body. i'll sometimes train the hamstrings on pull day, sometimes on leg day, sometimes both days but go lighter.
