March Against Monsanto to Launch International Protests May 23rd
by Anthony Gucciardi
Posted on May 10, 2015

The massive opposition against Monsanto is in full swing, and citizens around the world have had enough of the biotech giant’s food supply monopoly. There has never been a greater time than now to highlight the numerous dangers of Monsanto’s cancer-linked chemicals and genetically modified creations. That’s why this year’s March Against Monsanto protest is going to be the biggest one yet.

Spanning over 428 cities across the globe, March Against Monsanto is a grassroots culmination of countless individuals taking action and spreading the word about the reality behind Monsanto Company. A day of peaceful protest that now makes mainstream headlines, it was but a couple short years ago that I remember covering and attending the event in Philadelphia with minimal press presence.

In fact, the team and I were the only ones documenting the large gathering that marched through the streets of the historic district. Today, with the accelerated push from the public and action groups to reclaim our food supply, the airwaves are being forced to touch upon the protests.

We know that over 90% of citizens are in favor of GMO labeling, according to virtually all major polls. We know that people are tired of having their food sprayed with Monsanto’s cancer-linked Roundup herbicide. We also know that 96% of Monsanto shareholders are against GMO labeling. Not too surprising, huh?

That’s why it’s more important now than ever to take part in the resistance against Monsanto, with March Against Monsanto being a great tool in the peaceful fight to do so. Join your local march on May 23rd, and visit the March Against Monsanto official website for scheduling.

From the official March Against Monsanto release:

“On May 23, 2015, hundreds of thousands of concerned individuals will gather across 38 countries and 428 cities to join in peaceful protest against the Monsanto Company as a part of the March Against Monsanto grassroots campaign, which seeks to bring awareness over the dangers surrounding Monsanto’s genetically modified seeds and cancer-linked herbicide Roundup.

The campaign comes as the demand for GMO labeling and non-GMO food alternatives continues its exponential climb, with states like Vermont enacting “mandatory GM labeling legislation that will require food corporations to let consumers know if their products contain GM ingredients.”
