Northeast Texas men convicted in steroid smuggling ring - Houston Chronicle
A pair of Tyler residents pleaded guilty Wednesday to importing illegal steroids into the country and distributing them to customers, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Texas announced.
Stacey Godsey, 44, and Joseph Shay Burton, 39, were convicted of conspiracy to import anabolic steroids.
According to federal prosecutors, Godsey and Burton purchased steroids through the internet from suppliers in China between 2014 and 2016. Working in Godsey's garage and kitchen, they converted the steroids from a powder to a liquid.
After that, they sold and distributed the steroids to users in Tyler and other places.
Last year, law enforcement officers searched their homes and discovered more than 66,000 units of anabolic steroids.
Both men face up to 10 years in federal prison, officials said.
