So, as a new niche gym owner without contracts I have been playing amateur psychologist and trying to categorize those who stay vs. those who leave. It all comes down to motivation from what I can tell. There are many serious lifters but each has a different motivation. So, here is my loose observations about motivation.

First, would be those externally motivated. They train hard but do it for the adaboys and yeah buddies. Examples would be guys who lift to impress their group of buddies, they usually join for a month but when surrounded by other good lifters who do encourage them but are just as big or strong they return to their comfort zone. When it comes to girls the most popular is the Instagram models. ... They train hard but always for their phone.

There is also a less serious group who just come to flirt but they never make it past a day pass.

On the flip side is the internally motivated which constitutes our membership. They train for the love of training. Most have competed or served in some capacity as it's about proving something to themselves and not others. They are secure and willing to accept failure. They also van train alone or alongside others... But either way they train.

Now, I need to figure out how to gear my message towards the lone Wolf's of the gym world.
