Considering my goal is to stay lean and healthy would you say that I should most of the protein in the morning or in the evening? I read that too much protein will be stored as fat, something I want to avoid at all costs.

any calorie will, you need to determine your base calorie intake

any calorie will, you need to determine your base calorie intake

this is true... you need to find your base... and after a cutting phase you need to go into a reverse diet and attempt to get calories as high as you can slowly.. without excess fat gain... to prime yourself for the next cut or to get to a higher maintenance calorie intake

but protein is the least likely nutrient to be converted to fat... so higher protein intake is good

well i won't comment more than once since we're already talking about calories which are almost a worthless term in a bodybuilding diet, but protein should be consumed all day to maintain muscle, drop protein and the body will catabolize muscle , what you want to watch is the carbohydrate times, use carbs around active periods, so typically some in the morning and close to exercise then taper them as you become more sedentary , protein and healthy fats will not turn to fat with reasonable consumption.

more protein equals more fat burning, more muscle more fat burning.

but start someplace ands watch how you respond, go week by week, track it and dial it in

Protein is protein...not fat. You don't get fat from too much protein. You get fat from too much of what might be eaten with the protein, such as Fats and Carbs

if you consume 5 k cals in protein only burn 2500 you will add fat.

Technically, yes. But, that is an extreme example.

Realistically, the protein must be metabolized into amino acids, then ammonia. The remaining carbon is converted into Glucose, which is then absorbed by the muscles and liver. When there is no more room for the glycogen, then it is possible for the glycogen to be converted into fat and stored.

And how many grams protein do you guys think a woman who is 100% natural and only wants to stay healthy and lean should consume?

2 scoops of whey is 50 , you do that morning and night , so thats 2 servings and youre at 100 without a solid meal, sounds easy to do

136 grams is way too much, even with shakes I will never get enough.
It's not hard to do at all. Even with all solid food, it's very achievable. For you, 6 meals a day with 23gms each meal...that's nothing.

Like MisterB said...make two of those meals shakes or smoothie's, and you could go over.

136 grams... that should be easy. .. are you doing way more cardio and not much lifting. .. and eating very low cals?

A hard training woman should be able to hit that 136 grams easy... most probably hit 1.25-1.5 grams per lb of bodyweight. ..

Getting the right protein grams is one of the most important things in this game... all successful diets have higher protein in common..

If you are gonna spend your time and effort training, etc... make the effort to get this very basic diet requirement ..

Hey Krustus .... Yes I do more cardio than lifting and as a former anorexic I feel guilty when I eat. I feel the urge to burn as many cals as I can. I have a very slow emptying sensitive stomach and a dolichocolon. Whatever I eat stays stuck and makes me nauseous. I take meds for this but sometimes they don't work.

that in itself seems like an issue.. not a psychiatrist, so i don't know where to start with that issue...

as for the stomach issues.. not a doc either.. so no advice for those issues either

I'm a doctor. I played a GYN last night, and again this morning.
