So my shoulder has been really bothering me, even wakes me up after chest and back workouts. I very good friend of mine owns a physical therapy practice I called him and he got me in first thing this morning. Now it's been about 3 weeks and getting worse so thought I needed someone to check it out.

The good news is that it's just a shoulder impingement not a tear or worse, now a few tips and info I wanted to share.

1. So he tells me that the common shoulder warms up we all do, do little to build the rotator cup if the are done with a weight over 1-2lbs because the bigger muscle groups will take over delts, bi's, traps, etc... Taking away any benefit to the actual muscle we are trying to warm up and strengthen.
2. The pain in my shoulder has moved to my elbows, interesting he again says that it is common for a rotator cuff or impingement injury to create pain in the elbows. Said it's the body moving pain to make us focus on the smaller group that may be over looked. So tennis elbow is sometime a impingement in the shoulder irritating the tendons into the elbow.

If your having shoulder problems a and want to view some detailed movements he gave me website www.perfectfitnow.com

Well learned something.

yes bro, this is all too familiar. my prob is in the clavicle. dealing with it for 20 years now and as you were saying, just like you, I benched last night and was up all night tossing and turning. Its not unbearable, just uncomfortable. I was supposed to undergo surgery to fix this however blowing my knee out took precedence. I ll have to wait another year. My specialist gives me steroid shots(its not cortisone) Its something new they're using. She uses ultrasound to get it right in the joint and after about 3 days- Im pain free for about 3 months. Its not the safest thing to do but we all need to work and lift lol. Good luck with your shoulder, hopefully it gets better. Mine did not

After my shoulder injury, first thing I do when I get in the gym are rotator cuff warm-ups, w/ 5lb dumbells !!! I also have problems w/ my elbows and the warm-ups do seem to help the pain.
I've tried goin to the chiropractor and that also helps w/ the elbow pain but numbness and random episodes of shooting pain going from my elbow to fingers still occur.
I been looking into compression arm braces and even an inversion table to see what may help . Last thing I wanna do is pump more drugs in my system .
I'll be getting the inversion table soon and keep ya posted !!!

Dry doing reverse grip bench presses. A lot less stress on the shoulders. I'll start out with them and towards the end of my workout, I'll throw a few sets of regular pressing moves. I'll bring my elbows back no further then my torso as to keep them at a right angle in the lowest position. Basically not a full range of motion. Again, a lot less stress on the shoulders. I finish concrete so my shoulders are not the best shape.

According to this PT Some very recent studies are showing them that the mistake we are making is using weights above 2lbs. He said that is only taking away from the target muscle, try lower weight and higher reps. Worth a try....
