Tasha Star: FG Feature
How did you get started in fitness?
I was active on and off through my teens and early 20’s especially since I was involved in high level competitive equestrian showjumping. I started to get a little to involved in social activities (aka eating and drinking) and started to notice my body change for the worse. I did a one month training program with a friend when I was about 26 and decided to stick with it. A guy at my gym took me under his wing and showed me the ropes of more bodybuilding style training and I fell in love (with bodybuilding not him!!!)! The rest is history!

How do you stay motivated in your career?
I not only love being competitive and successful but I love helping others do the same. I have a genuine passion for this industry. It really doesn’t feel like work. I am always looking ahead and setting new goals so I am always working on something I’m excited about!
What was your biggest challenge in your fitness journey?
Learning to stop comparing myself to others. I remember my first few shows I was eyeing up competitors for months before. I had zero confidence. I had to learn to be confident in myself. This has been a huge thing for me both on stage and in business in the fitness industry. You have to believe in yourself and focus on your goals, not what other people are doing!
What’s your favorite music to workout to?
Trap music all the way! Its kind of a combo of rap/house with heavy bass and intense beats! Very energizing.
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
I’m obsessed with Mexican food, but I’m also a sucker for a good burger and some ice cream! Really I’ll eat just about anything as long as there is a lot of it!
How does your typical week in the gym look like?
Legs, legs and more legs! I am very upper body dominant and my legs tend to take their sweet time to catch up. Really I have two shoulder days, one full body circuit (mostly upper), and three intense leg days! Its pretty grueling but I love it!
Which female fit celebrity’s physique do you admire the most?
Since day 1 I have been a HUGE Amanda Latona fan. I love how she has a great balance of strong and feminine. She has such wonderfully mature muscle mass and those glutes are to die for! She’s also super sweet and genuine in person. Honestly though, I admire just about any woman that is making her presence known in this industry. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication and there are so many inspirational women out there so they all deserve credit and respect!
What does your supplement schedule look like?
I take a lot of standard vitamins for general support (C/D/B-complex/magnesium/zinc/probiotics). I am fortunate enough to be sponsored by Prime Nutrition and Blackstone Labs so I use all of their stuff! I am currently using Prime’s EAA’s and Blackstone’s Resurgence for Aminos. Prime’s MAX HP and Blackstone Angeldust for pre workout. Prime’s FATBURNER and CLA for fat loss. Prime’s Phytoform for overall health and greens. Thats about it! I try to keep it fairly basic and use supplements to support my diet and training.
What are you top 10 songs to workout to?
I honestly couldn’t even tell you! I download mixes from Soundcloud from my fave DJ’s so there is always something new and different on my iPod! Some of my fave DJ’s are: Diplo, A-Trak, Sleepy Tom, Trapzillas, GTA, Grandtheft, Jauz, Flosstradamus, DJ Snake, and Major Lazer!
What are you most proud of?
My level of focus and drive. I’ve never been so passionate about something in my life and so committed to doing what needs to be done to achieve my goals. Its the best feeling to find something you really love doing. When you do, the goals are achieved so much faster!
What’s next for you?
I have about 3 more shows scheduled this year, the first of which is in 5 weeks, along with a ton of shoots and expos coming in the next few months!
Do you have any advice or inspirational words for someone who is aspiring to get into the fitness world?
Set goals and stay focused!!! Always look ahead and never behind and let any failures be fuel to work even harder!
You can be your own worst enemy or your own best friend. Learn to be mentally strong and push through the hard times. If you are constantly hung up on everything being bad it will feel a lot worse than it really is. Look ahead, focus on goals and make it happen ⭐️(this is a public service announcement…no hard times are being had ) #focus #determination #tough #mental #emotional #physical #goals #positivity #youdecide #perception #bikinicompetitor #fitnessmodel #fitchick #fitspo #makeithappen #abs #lean #tight #procardhungry #opa #cbbf #ifbb #girlswithmuscle #6weeksout #primenutrition #blackstonelabs #teamhammer @hammerfitness @amerthehammer @aroundtheopa (https://instagram.com/p/19QRsSAKIB/)
