I made s bad fall two weeks ago (on an icy footpath). My right knee already badly damaged by torn ligaments and menisectomy 20 years ago swole up like a balloon. I waited a week before seeing a doctor who told me to keep moving and take Ibuprofen (which I skipped because it hurts my stomach). I did cardio only (45 min elliptical every morning). I thought everything was back to normal until yesterday. I played tennis and the knee hurts like hell today. It is unstable and swollen.

Sorry I had to vent .....

damn, knee is always painful. dont play tennis haha few days after injury, tennis is hardcore on the joints.

Hows it going MG

I'm still in pain. I guess it's a tendonitis. I never stopped working out and started running again a couple of months ago. I saw an orthopedic surgeon about possible knee replacement considering the numerous issues that I have but he said that it's not an option right now whatever that means. He wants me to wear a brace but all those I tried put pressure on the inside of the knee right where the pain is ....

I started physio again (2 sessions a week).

I have been in pain for 10 days now. At first knee was swollen and painful. Now it is just sore (the inner compartment). It doesn't stop me from doing cardio. I take Tramadol and wear a brace but not too tight because it puts pression right where the pain is .....

ice it and consider a little rest, maybe a week of no cardio.

side note Tramadol the worst drug to detox from, its a week long hell of brain zaps and leg spasms . the devils drug

I don't take Tramadol every day and stick to the lowest dosage possible.
Diazepam is addictive, it is the only drug that works when my muscles are so tense (I only take 5mg at night).

i like that one much better, even narcotics are easier than Tramadol, worst detox i ever had

When the daily pain is worse then the recovery.... It's time for surgery! Won't be much longer before I follow suit and have my shoulder replaced. Could barely bench 315 last night, and paying for it today.

I'm stressing out. I don't know how long I will have to stay at the hospital and how long rehab will be .....

Shoulder replacement? But you are young. Did you play football or something? I abused my knee since the first injury in the 80's (torn ACL and LCL never repaired, meniscus removed).

Thanks, make sure and tell Grim that!
I am young, and the doctor said I'll be among some of the youngest replacements he has seen or done. But to answer your question, no, it wasn't football ..... Just years of wear and tear. Bodybuilding didn't help much either. 😉

For me tennis didn't help "fixing" the knee after the horse riding accident and years of squats lol.

He doesn't think yourknee is bad enough and can be worked out it seems but If you have to go through with replacement to get rid of the pain from damage then we are with you here!!
