I'm not sure if I believe it myself. Its been awhile since I studied developmental psychology, but there is a developmental phase during adolescent defined by the Ericson model. I think its called identity vs confusion? Its why tis so common to see those "goth" kids now-a-days. Same as sexuality preference and experimentation, but I feel it goes further. Maybe its somehow linked to child abuse, molestation, media influence, lack of father or mother role model, etc. Just a hunch though, no concrete evidence.

There are a lot of strange things that take place and city slicker is correct about things that can effect how some people see and feel about themselves.
I personally also would like to throw in the fact that more men are seeming feminine and more women masculine due to I think additives in foods,drinks,plastics that we store our foods in(chemicals if you will),hell Rx meds and ant acids throw off hormone balance in men and women.The things I have mentioned and more play a part in the mental and physical development of an individual.Big industry no matter which is responsible for many problems we the people suffer from with the chemicals they choose to distribute into society.
