Dark Web. TOR browser

Hey bro's. I have been directed to a download a TOR browser so I can access a site that sells a few things that I need. I have never fucked with the dark web shit and am kind of concerned about downloading this Tor browser. Is this a new thing? Apparently my source says this is way on the down low and safe but I am skeptical? Any thoughts? thanks AK

Tor - the onion router is slow. Basically you connect to an encrypted sever that constantly reroutes you around the world making it hard to trace you or track your movement online. It's anonymous but also very slow to browse the web.

Keep in mind it's not 100% anonymous. Your browser can be targeted by NSA by installing malware to learn who you are and what you do. If your looking to buy a few guns, you will be okay. If you start dealing with child porn and becoming a major distributor in that or human trafficking then you will get caught. Feds have been known to learn who TOR users are and it's been highly documented in the news.

Also keep in mind police use TOR as well so they can remain anonymous online and try setting people up. It can be used by everyone.

As far as your friend and you being in the dark web world, depends on what your trying to get if you will be safe or not.

From what I remember reading wasn't the TOR developed by the government/military? I'm sure they have their ways around if they are the developers.

The US Navy developed it. Now it's being by private non profit groups who have it for the sake of freedom of speech, freedom from govt etc. Most people who use it are people in foreign countries with dictatorships.

Im using TOR nd wont go onto the boards without it.My boy hooked it up on my laptop with Linux and Ive never regretted it.So far,as I know,its the safest and most secure way to browse the internet.

Nothings 100% safe of course and if they want to find you,they will but thats why your browser is only 1 step to being safe.Your habits and how much you reveal to others is another very important factor.How you dicard stuff or keep it stored is another important thing.

There are many ways to help make it harder to trace you and IMHO,TOR has helped me greatly.At the very least,it helps me sleep better at night having it so its all good.

Thanks for the info Bro's. I ended up finding what I needed from a very cool Bro we all know.. 🙂 F.I.S.T I hope you can help me figure some of this TOR / Onion dark stuff out. I want to be as anonymous as possible and think this might be the way to go for me. If your doing it I think I'm moving in the right direction.
