Hell, anytime me and my ex got in a fight, I didn't have to ask for that shit back. She just took it off and threw it at me. She made things way to easy for me. Regardless, she was a fucking psycho and a snitch. Some of you may know from my other posts on here. Some advice for you man, if you guys fight a lot, it's not worth it in my opinion. I know others will disagree because relationships have trials and tribulations and it takes two to work things out. I ended always being the one apologetic and asking her to come back. It was never mutual. I finally said fuck it. It shouldn't be like that. If you truly feel like she's the one, just be sincere and apologize. Like someone else said, don't make excuses because excuses will usually ignite further confrontation and make shit worse. If you really want her back, and she still has feelings for you, it will work out man.

My ex was stubborn as fuck man. Seriously stubborn. Latina stubborn. But, she's female and love prevails man. Just be upfront and sincere with her. If she doesn't at first accept your apology, walk away and leave the conversation open. Leave the ball in her court and see what she does. That's what I would do.
