For what ever reason I just got burned out this last year, 18 years of manual labor in construction just wore me down to where I hated my job and...coupled with that i moved cities, it took me years to build up reputation and contacts , and I have non in new town.
I never subcontracted from stores or general contractors..only word of mouth recommendations ...just don't got it in me to build the same thing here.
So I'm moving on..
Some mean I won't do a custom job for someone but as my career I'm done..
I'm not just a tile and stone guy, I can literally do anything and build anything...and fairly good at most aspects of construction..
I got. Crazy pic I will post for yall of a house covered in red mahogany board and Barton siding. With no visible nails or screws, we plugged them all and sanded it ..my brother and I did whole house took 6 months

Its hard to find reliable contractors up here that know their stuff and won't just take your money and run, happens a lot. So if you don't mind getting flown up to Alaska and spending time fishing for salmon and halibut on your time off while taking in the amazing scenery, I'd hire you. Just need to buy a house first haha

I do what ever customer wants but if your open to design ideas I'm very good at design concepts..
Both of the showers/bathrooms pic I posted were completely my creation.the cabnetry, stone work and even faucets and lighting...I'm very affordable also ..I don't feel right about gouging people like most contractors..couple of my other projects

It took patients learning to do tuff like this..but once know how it's easy ...for any craftsman u have to take pride in your work, your not just making a check , u kinda leave your finger print every where u work..nothing feels better than for someone to have heard about your work and hire u without taking other bids....out of 6 years of operating solo I only had a handul or less jobs that I had to return to for an issue..but never anything major.. I cared about my reputation and I cared what kinda product I was leaving for clients...being OCD helps also..

As far as hard , the glass is hard to work with!!! And cheap brittle tile is a pain in the ass

My do builds furniture here some pieces he made..I'm having him make me some 100 year old white oak tables.

Very nice work brother! I want to do this to my master bath one day.

Blueedge,

I have an idea and I want the royalties from it. You're good man. I can tell by the pics and your attitude. Now you can start you own show on the DIY channel. You can call it Mega Gyms, just like their hit Mega Dens lol, You can transform empty old space etc..... Into beautiful home gyms ha ha

You heard it here first lol

Blueedge,

That is some awesome work man!

Unlike you, my profession is in another field but love doing projects like that. We own a lot of rental property (21 in the family) and I do most of the work myself when they are bought as well as maintaining them when needed. We generally gut the houses and start from scratch.
I will try and post some pics of my latest job on the mother in laws house and get a professional opinion on my work. Lol

Cool yea man post some up...I really enjoy gutting old spaces and starting from scratch...I'm sure there's some of our wives watch hgtv where the redesign and remodel place..living it and doing it isn't as easy as they present it on TV lol..it's a pain in the ass but I enjoyed the end result. I will probably miss it at some point...and may do some projects for friends. My goal is to build my own
Home 1800-2200 sqft. And design the entire home myself with architect. I will do a good majority of the work myself painting, flooring, trim, showers , fixtures, pavers, and the framing ect..I will hire guys to help. In Florida If I'm the home owner I can build without contractor, pull permits ect..I really hope to do this within 2 years. We're trying to have at least 60 - 100 k in pocket to put towards cost so we keep loan down..

I recently built a house from the ground up in Fontana... Came out nice w no snags... I had a few guys gone help gang everything but they just couldn't hang. Union carpenters r light years ahead of non... I gave by seen guys tack sheets w a hammer in a long time lol

Cool bro...I've had the plan for 15 years just finally becoming a reality that I'm gonna be able to do it
Seen some really cool stuff that I plan to inco4..I find most homes have those small things that could just be done Al little different to make everything more Convenient and utilize spaces..

A little late but as promised; posting up some of my recent work on the mother in laws house for some critique. I am by no means a pro at this but love it and constantly gathering new tools for the jobs at hand.
