To me, thing is, you shouldn't let the actions of humans define your beliefs, or your feelings about anything. Seems to me that many people have been jaded by what others have done in the name of their god or religion. How could anyone not admire a truly devout Christian life? Even you, OB. Just sayin'.

what is a devout christian life????? What is their to admire? 99% of christians cant even follow their own teachings. Like adultery just for shits and giggles.. Doing right by others and your family??? why would I need to be a christian to do those things??? I dont need a god to get through the day or to get through the tough times. that is why I have a family that loves me and when I need to turn to someone for help I can turn to them.. I dont need a higher power to guide me through life. I am a man of my own means. I dictate my life's path.

Not to mention more people have died under the name god and christ than anything else.. The church has done more genocide than hitler stalin and anyone else we can come to think of combined. Regardless of what domination one wants to align themselves with. it is still the fact of the matter it was done for the same cause, to corral the masses and to tax its congregation. not for the fact of spreading faith and understanding, but to line a mortal mans pockets. Look at how many crimes have been committed in the name of jesus. It is like saying I am a nazi but I dont agree with hitler.... I know you see what I am saying

You're right, I can admire that. But in no way is the golden rule exclusive to Christians. If that is the criteria, I'd have to give the win to a group like the Buddhists. I doubt their history is nearly as bloody as Christianity's.

These are different things. Faith is belief in something you cannot touch or see. Religion spins around a set traditions used to support or in effect claim faith. Like faith would be falling backward into someone's arms you cannot see. Religion would be using a mirror to verify they are back there.

to easy if someone takes shit from me with out my permission it pisses me off. SO there for I knwo if I take something from someone else it will do the same thing to them. Which tells you it is wrong.. Just like if you wanted to make the argument, how would I know it actually hurts if I smashed my balls in the drawer unless someone told me it would hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adultery well that depends on the couple I imagine I know when I married my wife 14 years ago I made an oath to be loyal to her and only her. So there for in my case if I were to fuck another woman I will have broken that oath. NEver make a promise you cannot keep.

Killing someone well that is a hard one.. Am I killing out of pure satisfaction?? Well I have done that I have also done a combination of these two, self defense and satisfaction.. Everything comes down to reason. WHy was it done. Sins are really a societal view on morals just like sex with a minor less than a 100 years ago more than half the US population would be in prison for sex with a minor.

Good point. Morality has always come from religion. To you and I it comes from our Christian God. If there were never morals how could we have civilization in general? Afterall, wouldn't the Law of the Jungle prevail? Only the strong survive? Why would humans have any reason not to follow their every whim, no matter the consequences, especially to other's?

Well, numerous studies have been published from research at hospitals which shows a clear relationship to people getting well quicker when there is a group of people praying for them. I know, next you'll question the machinations, such as, why does a group of people have more 'sway' with God? Idk, but the Bible also says that when a group of people gather in Jesus' name, his spirit will be there.

True Christians believe you don't ask for anything material when you pray.How could you possibly tell God anything he dosen't already know? In the Book of Matthew we are instructed by Jesus to go in a private place to pray. Not to ask for anything, but in order to connect with the spirit of God and receive 'marching orders', if you will. This is where faith comes in to a large degree.

How do you know Christians don't live happier, healthier lives? As for the riches part, being a Christian, you should know that God's promise is of riches in Heaven, not on Earth.Living with a guilt-free conscience, because you actually follow God's word, not because you go to church every weekend and ask forgiveness for the prior week's sins, is a gift itself. Don't you agree? As far as healthier, if you're living a true Christian life you won't be a fat pig, to be blunt. Gluttony is also a sin.

You guys who question God or Christianity are missing an important point here. You judge Christianity by the people who proclaim to be Christians. Has it occured to you that most of the people who say they are Christians by their words are, in fact, not Christian's at all? Actions speak louder than words in Christianity also.The Bible also addresses this, as it states, "Narrow is the Path, and few are they who walk it", even those who profess to be Christians. I have a surprise for you, God will judge those who proclaim to be Christians with the same lens of Truth as he will judge non-Christians. Preaches who lead people astray are going to get a special treat.
